HSBC Bank PLC

Corporate move management in conjunction with Carillion FM

BCL has supported HSBC for many years, providing the reliability and consistency that a top 5 “High Street” bank demand from its’ suppliers.

In 2006, HSBC undertook an ambitious and aggressive programme to upgrade the ‘back-room’ facilities in over 1,000 of its nationwide branches. This aptly named ‘Project Spruce’ required the clearance of selected furniture, IT and paperwork to enable soft refurbishment work to take space as well as requiring internal moves within the branches.

HSBC called upon BCL to challenge the possibility of taking over a contract. Great news you might think!? Well kind of, but when the call was received on 23rd December just 2 days before Christmas day, with a project transfer date of the 3rd January, some might have quivered at the prospect.

BCL into action! A dedicated BCL project manager attended site immediately, the very same day, to receive a detailed brief, paying particular attention to the areas troubling the client. Following this the BCL ‘machine roared into action’.

It was critical for BCL to maintain prevailing budgets, which through a flexible approach we honoured. It was therefore essential to ensure that tight cost-control measures were instigated, through co-ordination of loads and efficient recycling solutions to make the project worthwhile.

Our project team consisting of Project Manager, team administrator, help desk liaison officer and operations co-ordinator were mobilised, all sacrificing Christmas leave to commence the enormous task of making individual contact with every HSBC branch location arranging the specified collection date within the tight schedule.

A vast database was created containing every bespoke detail pertaining to each branches unique requirements as far reaching as Folkestone to Penzance to Carlisle.

The aspect of security was paramount, particularly in view of recent London bombings, so BCL were meticulous to ensure the Bank’s stringent security standards were never breached. Crew details needed to be communicated to each and every one of the branches security officer and all BCL staff required official identification, such as passport or driving licence.

Our task involved providing environmentally friendly solutions for each commodity, including furniture, IT and paperwork, strictly within budget restrictions. BCL provided a totally “green service” through our portfolio of charitable and recycling contacts developed over many years. A full audit trail for each branch was created.

We feel proud and confident that the characteristics of this Corporate Move Partnership epitomise all the facets that represent the ‘best’ in our beloved industry.
